About Me
I’m Kshama Ranawana, a Sri Lankan-Canadian writer and activist.
I started my career as a journalist at the Sun newspapers in Sri Lanka in 1978 and have worked as Advocacy Manager at the Sri Lanka Press Institute, Complaints Officer for the Press Complaints Commission of Sri Lanka, Project Coordinator at Sri Lanka’s Women & Media Collective and Human Resources Coordinator at Youth Empowerment and Support Services, Edmonton, Alberta. My work in Sri Lanka entailed liaising with international agencies on safety issues for journalists and I have conducted several workshops on media ethics in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
